This session is for those of you considering or new to the field of ethics and compliance. I will take you through a day in the life of a professional in this great field. We’ll look at what it looks like via a week in the life; we’ll look at what it takes via a discussion on what the essential skill sets and personality traits of an ethics and compliance professional; we’ll look at how to get it by discussing education options as well as jobs and salaries; we’ll talk about how to keep it via a discussion on how to expand your network and connections and finally, we’ll talk about what it means to have a fulfilling career in this profession.
About our guest speaker: Colleen Dorsey is a nationally recognized and respected leader in the ethics and compliance space. In 2019 she was awarded one of 12 Top Minds in Compliance awards by Compliance Week and was also shortlisted for the International Women in Compliance Award for Mentor of the Year. She regularly hosts and/or presents regionally and nationally at key ethics and compliance conferences on topics concerning the compliance and ethics profession, including the ethics of AI and ML. In her role at St. Thomas, Colleen leads a master’s degree program which is led by the law school and run in partnership with Opus College of Business The Organizational Ethics & Compliance program Colleen runs includes six-degree offerings – two of which are housed 100% online. Prior to joining St. Thomas, Colleen served as in-house counsel at Land O’Lakes for almost 16 years where she created their first compliance and ethics program.
